Daryl Romeyn responded: "Well certainly the Congresswoman had a chance to be part of the process to get it right and she failed us, because everytime you meet with the different caucuses, you have a chance to find that middle ground, to do right by America. Now we have 32-million-some-people that don't have health care, right now, when they have a problem in many cases, they're not going to the doctor, they're letting it go. So preventative issues are not being addressed that means we'll have to pay the piper down the road on that issue. Certainly the cost drivers were not addressed as well, we still see our insurance premiums going up, we find that tort reform did not get addressed in the health care bill, and we find that some of us are still not able to participate. Now certainly there are onerous provisions and the good as well, let's get rid of the provisions that are onerous, where they try to force the individual to pay, but let's keep the positives that should have been done long ago." But we took the ball off terrorism in Afghanistan when we had the chance because our government devoted the bulk of our military resources to the Iraq effort. As a student of military history, when I make a decision about Afghanistan, I look at the realities on the ground, the rules of engagement, the fact that the enemy has sanctuary, the fact that we are dealing with a corrupt government, the supply-line problems we have, the fact that I don't see any public sacrifice here at home for the war effort. So when I look at that combination of factors I say that we need that money and those dollars and that effort here at home in America right now. We'll take on terrorists where we find them."
